I work as both a drone pilot and a camera operator, with my own professional kit ready to travel. Here’s what I currently bring to a shoot – get in touch to check availability.
DJI Inspire 3 (two full kits)
My go-to aircraft for high-end productions. It’s quick from flight case to first shot, and having two complete kits means we can keep flying whatever happens. With dual control, I fly while a dedicated camera operator frames the shot, which gives smoother, more cinematic results.
Image quality – Zenmuse X9-8K Air full-frame camera
• 8K up to 75fps in Apple ProRes RAW, 8K CinemaDNG, and full-frame 4K at 120fps with no crop
• 14+ stops of dynamic range; dual native ISO 800 / 4000
• DJI Cinema Color System, for colour that matches ground cinema cameras
• DJI DL primes: 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 75mm, plus the Laowa 9mm ultra-wide (the “crowd pleaser”)
Flight performance
• Top speed 58 mph (94 km/h); up to 28 minutes per battery
• Handles winds up to 31 mph in flight
• Waypoint Pro repeatable routes, for day-to-night blends and matched takes
• Camera can pan a full 360° and tilt up to 80° without the landing gear getting in shot
• Centimetre-accurate RTK positioning; obstacle sensing in all directions
DJI Mavic 4 Pro (512GB Creator Combo)
A compact three-camera system that goes where a big rig can’t: long-distance tracking, remote locations and small crews. Its long flight time covers big distances in a single flight.
Image quality – triple Hasselblad camera system
• 100MP 4/3 main camera: 6K at 60fps, 4K at 120fps, up to ~16 stops of dynamic range
• 70mm medium tele (4K at 120fps) and 168mm telephoto (4K at 100fps), for compressed shots from a distance
• 10-bit D-Log, D-Log M and HLG; 10-bit 4:2:2 ALL-I recording at up to 1,200 Mbps to 512GB of built-in storage
• A gimbal that rotates a full 360° and tilts up to 70°, for angles other drones can’t reach
Flight performance
• Up to 51 minutes per battery; top speed about 56 mph (90 km/h)
• Handles winds up to 27 mph
• Omnidirectional obstacle sensing that still works in very low light
DJI Ronin 4D (6K)
A four-axis stabilised cinema camera that gives dolly-smooth movement handheld, on a car or on a crane. It can be flown as a remote head with full wireless control of pan, tilt, focus and camera settings.
Image quality – Zenmuse X9-6K full-frame camera
• 6K up to 60fps and 4K up to 120fps
• Internal Apple ProRes RAW, ProRes 4444 XQ, ProRes 422 HQ and H.264
• 14+ stops of dynamic range; dual native ISO 800 / 5000
• Built-in motorised 9-stop ND filters (ND 2 to 512), for quick exposure changes without swapping filters
• LiDAR-assisted focus for sharp results even on fast-moving subjects
Lenses – Thypoch Simera-C full-frame cine primes
• 16mm T1.9 · 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 75mm at T1.5
• Fast, consistent aperture across the set for low light and shallow depth of field
• 16-blade iris for smooth, rounded bokeh; subtle flare and minimal colour fringing
• Cine-geared focus and iris for pulling focus remotely
MOVMAX Razor Arm – car tracking rig
Mounts the Ronin 4D to a vehicle for smooth, stable car-to-car tracking shots.
• Air-suspension arm with anti-vibration mount, for smooth car-to-car tracking shots
• Four heavy-duty suction cups; handles up to 6.6 kg with the Ronin 4D mounted
NEW KIT • JUST ADDED • PIXBOOM SPARK HIGH-SPEED CAMERA
Pixboom Spark
High-speed slow-motion camera
My newest addition, for extreme slow motion: water, wildlife, sport and impact shots that normal cameras can’t capture.
Image quality
• Super 35 global-shutter sensor, so fast action has no rolling-shutter wobble
• 4.6K open gate at up to 670fps; 4K at up to 887fps; 2K at up to 1,724fps (2,182fps at 2.37:1)
• 13 stops of dynamic range; RAW recording
On set
• 2.7-second pre-record buffer, so you catch the moment even if you trigger just after it happens
• Interchangeable mount (E, EF and PL); 12G-SDI out; V-lock power
